BOGURA, April 9, 2026 (BSS) - Eight platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed to uphold law and order and ensure a free, fair, neutral, and peaceful by-election in the Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituency being held today.

The BGB personnel, drawn from Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB) and Patnitala Battalion (14 BGB), are performing duties as both mobile and static forces across the constituency, according to a press release.

According to the directives of the Election Commission, BGB members will remain deployed in the area until April 11 to ensure overall security.

The by-election is being held following the vacancy of the Bogura-6 seat.

In the 13th National Parliamentary Election held on February 12, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman was elected from both Bogura-6 and Dhaka-17 constituencies with a large number of votes.

Later, he retained the Dhaka-17 seat and vacated Bogura-6, leading to the declaration of the seat as vacant.

In accordance with the Constitution and the Representation of the People Order, the by-election for Bogura-6 is being conducted today.
