Youth hacked to death in Sitakunda, two arrested

CHATTOGRAM, April 9, 2026 (BSS) - A 45-year-old man Jahangir Alam Shamim was brutally murdered in Sitakunda upazila of the district. The attackers, with whom he had a previous enmity, allegedly hacked him to death and cut tendons. 

Two suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the incident. 

Shamim, who was the organizing secretary of Ward No. 9 Awami League in Sitakunda Municipality, had gone to visit his in-laws in Madhyam Bhaterkhil Taltola village when he was called by a group of miscreants and taken to the Beriband area where he was attacked. 

Police recovered his body and arrested two suspects for questioning. The investigation is ongoing, and the body has been sent for autopsy at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
