Mixed day for South Point in FIDE-ISCF World School Chess

DHAKA, April 9, 2026 (BSS) - It was mixed day for South Point School and 
College as Bangladesh won the fifth round and lost the sixth round of Asian 
Continental stage of the FIDE-ISCF World School Chess Championship held in 
Almaty, Kazakhstan today (Thursday).

In the fifth round South Point School & College beat SJK(C) Pin HWA school in 
Malaysia by 2.5-1.5 game points.

In the fifth round, Safayat Kibria Azaan and Azaan Mahmood defeated Koh Jii 
Herng and Tan Yanzie respectively. Muhtady Tajwar Nasheed split point with 
Khoo Ian Poh and Sidratul Muntaha Nafi lost to Lee Yuze.

However, in the sixth round held later in the afternoon, South Point School 
and College conceded 0.5-3.5 defeat against the RPMS Almaty of Kazakhstan. 

Safayat Kibria Azaan South Point School & College drew with Nurliyev Magzhan 
RPMS Almaty. Muhtady Tajwar Nasheed, Sidratul Muntaha Nafi and Azaan Mahmood 
of South Point School & College lost to Nesipbay Rakhman, Omirserik Alima and 
Baibek Emur of RPMS Almaty respectively.

After six rounds, South Point School & College has collected six points. 

The seventh round games start tomorrow (Friday) with South Point School and 
College take on Bolovsrol Secondary School of Mongolia.
