Girl dies of snakebite in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, April 12, 2026 (BSS) - An 18-year-old girl died after being bitten by a venomous snake in Kalaroa upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Bithi Khatun, daughter of Abdullah Sardar, a resident of Chandanpur village of the upazila.

According to local sources, the incident occurred around 8:00 am while Bithi was sweeping the kitchen of her home, as part of her daily routine. During this time, a poisonous snake suddenly bit her on the leg, leaving her in severe pain.

Family members rushed her to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for emergency treatment. However, the on-duty doctor at the hospital declared her dead upon arrival.

Officer-in-Charge of Kalaroa Police Station H. A. Shaheen, confirmed the incident.
