NARAIL, April 13, 2026 (BSS) - The distribution of free Aush paddy seeds and chemical fertilisers has begun among small and marginal farmers in Lohagara upazila of the district under the Kharip-1 season of the 2025–26 fiscal year.

The programme was inaugurated on Monday at 11:30 am at the Lohagara Upazila Parishad auditorium, where agricultural inputs were formally distributed among beneficiaries.

The event was presided over by Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shammi Kaiser. Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Munmun Saha delivered the welcome address.

Lohagara Upazila BNP Acting President Md. Hemayet Hossain and Acting General Secretary Md. Tipu Sultan were present as special guest. The programme was moderated by Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Sheikh Salman Zaman.

According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, a total of 1,730 small and marginal farmers across Lohagara municipality and 12 unions will receive incentives under the programme. Each beneficiary farmer is being provided with 5 kg of Aush paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertiliser, and 10 kg of MOP fertiliser.

Officials said the initiative aims to support farmers in boosting Aush paddy production during the current cropping season and strengthening agricultural productivity in the region.
