
RANGPUR, April 13, 2026 (BSS) - Newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Ruhul Amin today pledged to overcome existing challenges and work with people for the overall development of the district.
He sought cooperation and advice of all stakeholders to identify the problems and prospects of the district and move Rangpur forward through planned development.
The DC made the remarks at a view-sharing meeting held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office this afternoon.
He emphasised the implementation of the Teesta Master Plan, relaunch of Shyampur Sugar Mills Ltd, establishment of an economic zone and an Export Processing Zone (EPZ), setting up of the second BSCIC Industrial City, construction of a divisional stadium to improve sports facilities, and full operation of a specialised children's hospital.
He also stressed the renovation and re-excavation of the Shyamasundari and KD canals, improvement of services at Rangpur Medical College Hospital, introduction of separate lanes for battery-powered auto-rickshaws to reduce traffic congestion, removal of illegal structures at the railway station, preservation of Haribhanga mangoes, expansion of foreign markets for potatoes, sweet pumpkins and mangoes, and creation of new employment opportunities.
The DC said desired development is not possible without the sincerity and cooperation of all.
"I want to work with dedication and honesty as long as I remain a government employee. I will try to bring the problems, challenges and potentials of this district to the attention of the government," he said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Ramiz Alam also spoke at the event.
