
RAJSHAHI, April 13, 2026 (BSS) - A two-day national training workshop on ‘Heatwave Early Warning’ was organized by the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Rajshahi City Unit.
The closing session of the training was held today at the Hotel X conference hall in the city. The chief guest at the certificate distribution ceremony was Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation and Chairman of Red Crescent Rajshahi City Unit.
Speaking at the event, Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman said, “The Red Crescent Rajshahi City Unit has been working with distinction. We need to work on how its activities can be further involved in serving the city’s residents.”
He assured that the City Corporation would provide comprehensive support to the Red Crescent Rajshahi City Unit.
The event was presided over by Red Crescent Rajshahi City Unit Vice Chairman Rezaul Karim Raju. Also present were Unit Secretary Dr. Md. Shamim Hossain Chowdhury, Unit Level Officer Shamim Ahsan, and Youth Chief Md. Ali Hossain.
Notably, the training was organized with 28 participants from various government and non-governmental development organizations to accelerate local-level activities in response to the upcoming possible heatwave.
The training covered early action, weather monitoring, and identification of high-risk areas.
Through spontaneous participation, the trainees took part in a drill to implement early action policies.
The trainers present at the training were Director of the Department of Disaster Management Nitai Chandra Dey Sarkar from Dhaka, German Red Cross Manager Fahim Ahmed, Red Crescent Society Senior Technical Officer Asma Akter Poppy, and Project Officer Abu Md. Zobayer.
