RCC launches vaccination campaign to prevent measles-rubella in children

RAJSHAHI, April 20, 2026 (BSS)- The Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026 has begun across Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) areas, with a total of 438 permanent and temporary centers. 

The campaign was inaugurated this morning by RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton at the Urban Primary Health Center in the city.

The campaign runs from April 20 to May 10, 2026. The target is to vaccinate 54,144 children in the Rajshahi metropolitan area.

At the inauguration, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman said the present government under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has taken various steps to prevent measles-rubella. 

As part of that, the measles-rubella vaccination campaign has started nationwide today. Over 14 working days from April 20 to May 10, 2026, the goal is to vaccinate a total of 54,144 children in the RCC area: 45,623 children at the community level and 8,521 children at the school level.
 
All children aged 6 months to under 5 years are being vaccinated under this campaign.
 
The vaccination program has started at a total of 438 centers, including 180 centers for students from 286 educational institutions, 240 community centers, and 18 permanent centers in the city. 

Each temporary center has 2 vaccinators and 3 volunteers assigned, while each permanent center has 1 vaccinator and 1 volunteer. 

He expressed hope that with everyone's cooperation, the measles-rubella vaccination campaign can be implemented successfully.
 
Calling on parents, the RCC Administrator said, "Bring your children to the vaccination centers. One vaccine can ensure your child's healthy future. If any symptoms of measles-rubella appear in children, take them to the nearest health center promptly and seek a doctor's advice."
 
The RCC Administrator added that around 70,000 public awareness leaflets on measles prevention have been prepared and distributed door to door. RCC is always by the citizens' side when needed.
 
Present at the event were RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, Secretary Sohel Rana, Rajshahi Civil Surgeon Dr. S.I.M Raziul Karim, RMP Deputy Police Commissioner Gaziur Rahman, Director of Family Planning Rajshahi Division Dr. Kustori Amina Queen, RCC Chief Health Officer Dr. F.A.M Anjuman Ara Begum and other concerned officials.
