KHULNA, April 20, 2026 (BSS) - Police have detained one person in connection with an attack on a family in Khulna city early today, where three members were injured.

The injured are -- Jhumur Akter, 26, Hasib Sheikh, 20, and Aslam Gazi, 35, at a slum in the Greenland Residential Area under Ward No. 21 around 5am.

Locals rescued the injured individuals and rushed them to the hospital. 

According to police and local sources, a group of armed attackers entered the house at dawn, attacked them with sharp weapons, leaving them seriously injured.

All three victims are currently under treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital.

On information, police detained one suspect, Suman, at the scene.

Local witnesses alleged that two other suspects, Farukh Sikder and Jim Sadiwere also involved.

Sub-Inspector Sattar of the concerned police station confirmed the detention and said a case is being filed, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects.

The reason behind the incident yet to be ascertained, police added.
