2 get life term for abducting, killing child in Kafrul

DHAKA, April 19, 2026 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced two persons to life imprisonment in a case filed over the abduction and murder of an 11-year-old boy in the capital’s Kafrul area in 2008.

Judge Munshi Md Moshiyar Rahman of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 pronounced the verdict convicting Al Amin Ghorami and Masud Rana in the case. The court also finned Taka 100,000 each.

Besides, the court sentenced another accused Saiful Islam alias Choto Saiful to 14 years’ imprisonment. However, it acquitted two other accused—Abdul Motaleb and Amirul Islam—from the charges.

According to the prosecution, the victim, Md Shahidul Islam Milon, was abducted from the North Senpara area in Kafrul on March 6, 2008. The convicts later strangled him to death and dumped his body in the Ramchandrapur area of Savar on March 8.

Following the incident, the victim’s father filed a case with Kafrul Police. Police later submitted charge sheet against five accused on May 23, 2008.

During the trial, a total of nine witnesses testified before the court.
