DHAKA, April 18, 2026 (BSS) – Majedul Haque Helal, who allegedly supplied the weapon used in the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, today gave a confessional statement before a court in the case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman recorded his statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure after police produced the accused before the court and sought to record his confession.

Earlier, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam on April 15 placed Majedul on a three-day remand in the case.

Hadi was shot on December 12, 2025, at around 2:20 pm while travelling in a battery-run auto-rickshaw in the Bijoy Nagar Box Culvert Road area in the capital.

Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Zaber filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on December 14.

Later, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddiq Azad on December 20 ordered inclusion of Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code in the case, which was initially filed as an attempted murder case, following Hadi’s death on December 18.
