Daily wage labourer killed by lightning strike in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT 30 April 2026 (BSS) - A daily wage labourer has died in a lightning strike in Sarkardanga village in Sadar upazila on Wednesday afternoon in the district. 

The deceased was identified as Robin Hawlader, 53, son of Jagdish Hawlader of the village. He was killed by lightning while fetching a cow in the field. He has a wife and two sons. 

Local village police Tarun Sarkar said that Robin Hawlader had gone to the field to fetch a cow after the storm subsided. He died there in the lightning strike. Various parts of his body were burnt.
 
Inspector (Investigation) of Bagerhat Model Police Station Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter. His last rites are scheduled to be performed at the family crematorium, he added.
