Two drug peddlers held with yaba in Khulna

KHULNA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) - Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) arrested two alleged drug peddlers with 95 pieces of yaba tablets during a drive in the city on Wednesday.

The DB team conducted the operation from 5:05pm to 5:35pm based on a tip-off in front of 'Amena Manzil' at Chhoto Boyra Market Road under Sonadanga Model Police Station area, said a KMP press release today.

The arrested were identified as Md Belayet Hossain, also known as Kana Bellal, 24, son of Anichur Rahman, and Sakib Sheikh, 22, son of the late Swapan Sheikh.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees confessed to their involvement in the buying and selling of yaba tablets in different areas of Khulna metropolitan for a long time, the release said.

Police said Belayet Hossain has three cases against him on charges including murder, theft and narcotics, while Sakib Sheikh has one case filed against him.

Legal steps have been taken against the accused, the KMP press release added.
