DHAKA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today placed former Feni-3 lawmaker Lt Gen (Retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury on a fresh four-day remand in a case filed over the killing of Delwar Hossain during the July Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Manjurul Islam passed the order after police produced Chowdhury before the court upon completion of his previous three-day remand and sought a further four-day remand for interrogation.

Earlier, Chowdhury was first placed on a four-day remand on April 7. He was subsequently remanded for another three days on April 27 in the same case.

A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police detained him during a raid in the Baridhara DOHS area of the capital on March 23.

According to the case statement, Delwar Hossain joined an anti-discrimination student movement rally in front of a fruit market in the Mirpur-10 area on July 19, 2024. The rally came under attack by unidentified assailants, who opened indiscriminate fire on the protesters. Delwar sustained bullet injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he died on July 21.

Delwar’s widow, Liza Akter, filed the case on July 6, 2025.
