Ex-ministers Menon, Qamrul indicted in July crimes against humanity case

DHAKA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) - International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today framed charges against former ministers Rashed Khan Menon and Advocate Qamrul Islam in a case over alleged crimes against humanity linked to the July Mass Uprising.

The ICT-1, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder, issued the order rejecting discharge petitions filed by the accused.

The tribunal also fixed June 9 for the prosecution's opening statement and the commencement of witness depositions.

Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam appeared for the prosecution, while senior advocate Mansurul Haque Chowdhury represented the defence.

The formal charges were submitted on February 3, 2026, and subsequently taken into cognisance by the tribunal.
