Two killed in bus-cng collision in Netrokona

NETROKONA, May 2, 2026 (BSS) - Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a CNG-run autorickshaw in Purbadhola upazila of the district this morning.

One of the deceased was identified as Ainul Haque, 50, son of late Kashem Ali a resident of Dakshin Kal Dohar village in the upazila. 

The accident occurred around 8.20 am in Baro Ilashpur area when a Durgapur-Mymensingh bound bus collided head-on with a CNG autorickshaw, leaving autorickshaw passenger Ainul dead on the spot and injured another, said Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Purbadhola Police Station. 

The injured passenger of the autorickshaw was rescued and taken to Purbadhola Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police seized both the vehicles involved in the collision. However, the drivers of both vehicles fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Police are working to identify the second deceased victim and have initiated legal procedures in connection with the incident.
