GAIBANDHA, May 9, 2026 (BSS) - A day-long employment fair was held at Independence Square in the town today to create job opportunities for trained youths and eligible job seekers.

Local non-government organisation SKS Foundation organised the fair under the Recovery and Advancement of Informal Sector Employment (RAISE) Project.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Masudar Rahman Molla inaugurated the fair by cutting a ribbon as the chief guest, while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Jadob Sarker attended as the special guest.

Sadar Upazila Youth Development Officer Suzon Miah and Upazila Social Services Officer Nasir Uddin Shah, among others, addressed the discussion meeting.

SKS Foundation Advocacy and Communication Division Director Joseph Haldar presided over the programme, while Public Relations and Communication Officer Ashraful Alam moderated it.

Speaking at the event, Coordinator (Field Operations) Baharam Khan said the organisation provided six-month training to 660 youths in 12 trades under the project. Of them, 174 youths have already secured jobs.

He said the fair aimed to help the remaining trained youths find employment through direct contact with recruiting companies.

About 15 companies, including RFL and ACI, participated in the fair by setting up stalls and collecting CVs from job seekers.
