Man electrocuted to death in Paikgachha

KHULNA, May 9, 2026 (BSS) - A 35-years-old man died after being electrocuted while catching fish at a shrimp enclosure in Paikgachha upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Iman Ali Morol, son of Jiba Morol of Gajalia village in the upazila.

The incident occurred around 11:00am at the fish enclosure owned by Iqbal Kazi at Kaiya Sachibunia area.

Iqbal Kazi said Ali was catching fish with a net when he slipped and grabbed a bamboo pole to save himself. An electric wire had been hanging from the pole. As the wire snapped, he was electrocuted in the water.

He was rushed to Paikgachha Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead while undergoing treatment, said Kazi.

Family members later took the body to their home.

Paikgachha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Kibria said police would look into the matter and take necessary legal steps accordingly.
