Two killed in Bagerhat road accident

BAGERHAT, June 2, 2026 (BSS) -  Two people who were injured in a head-on collision between a battery-powered van and a truck in Kachua upazila of Bagerhat died while receiving treatment at hospital.

According to police sources, the accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the Charkathi area of the upazila when a battery-powered van collided with a six-wheeled truck.

Four people — Abu Hasan (30), Roman Sheikh (32), Matiur Rahman Khan (70), and Rabbi (25) — sustained injuries in the collision.

Local residents rescued the injured and provided initial treatment before they were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced medical care.

Police from Kachua Police Station rushed to the scene after receiving information about the accident. The accident-hit truck was seized and taken into police custody.

Later, Matiur Rahman Khan and Rabbi succumbed to their injuries at Khulna Medical College Hospital at around 6:30 pm on Tuesday.

Matiur Rahman Khan, son of late Daulat Khan, was a resident of Ward No. 3 in the Padmanagar area under Gopalpur union of Kachua upazila in Bagerhat district. Rabbi, son of Sarwar, was a resident of Ward No. 8 in the Juskhola area of Pirojpur Sadar upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Kachua Police Station Md. Shafiqul Islam said legal proceedings related to the incident are underway.
