BJWT distributes cheques among 75 journo in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 27, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Journalists' Welfare Trust (BJWT) today distributed the fourth instalment of financial grant cheques for the fiscal year 2025-2026 among 75 journalists of 10 districts of Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions. 
 
The cheques were distributed at a function organized at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room with Deputy Commissioner and President of Rangpur BJWT unit Mohammad Ruhul Amin in the chair. 
 
Rangpur Development Authority (RpDA) Chairman and Rangpur Metropolitan BNP Convener Md Samsuzzaman Samu was present as the chief guest at the event and distributed the cheques among the recipients. 
 
Rangpur Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and Rangpur Press Club Administrator Md Ramiz Alam, BJWT Deputy Director (Administration and Finance) ABM Rafiqul Islam, Rangpur Journalist Union President Salequzzaman Salek, Dinajpur Journalist Union General Secretary Mahfizul Islam Ripon, among others, also spoke. 
 
Shamsuzzaman Samu said that the grant activities of BJWT for the welfare of journalists are commendable. 
 
“I hope that such initiatives will further encourage journalists to perform their professional duties and that this activity will continue in future,” he said. 
 
At the programme, donation cheques were distributed among 63 journalists from eight districts of Rangpur division and 12 more journalists from Naogaon and Joypurhat districts of Rajshahi division. 
 
Among the recipients, 22 are from Rangpur, 18 from Dinajpur, 11 from Kurigram, seven from Panchagarh, five from Nilphamari, one from Naogaon and 11 from Joypurhat districts. 
 
Presidents, general secretaries of different journalist organizations of various districts of Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions were present at the event, moderated by Rangpur Journalists Union General Secretary Sarker Mazharul Mannan.
