JHENAIDAH, June 27, 2026 (BSS) - Former General Secretary of the Gano Odhikar Parishad and BNP leader Rashed Khan today said Bangladesh could not develop like China because the ousted Awami League (AL) government had turned the country into a vassal state of India over the past 18 years.

"Those who now claim that the BNP government is acting as India's agent have been proven wrong. If the BNP were doing India's bidding, the head of the government would have visited India first instead of going to China," he said.

Rashed Khan made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with journalists in Kaliganj of the district.

He said, "India is our neighboring friendly country. We want good relations with India. But India's hegemonic attitude will not be tolerated."

He also remarked that the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has now regained its courage at the border.

On the issue of the Push-in, Rashed Khan said, "The BGB is now speaking with courage. After the BNP government came to power, the BGB is giving a fitting reply, eye-to-eye at the border. The BNP does not act as any country's agent. The BNP is neither India's agent nor Pakistan's."
