
RAJSHAHI, June 6, 2026 (BSS) - An awareness rally titled "Dengue Prevention Awareness Rally-2026" was organized by the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) to increase public awareness to prevent dengue.
The rally started at 11 am today in front of Nagar Bhaban. It proceeded through Darikharbona More and Kadirganj in the city, and ended back at the Nagar Bhaban premises.
The chief guest at the rally was the RCC Administrator, Mahfuzur Rahman Riton. After the rally, the RCC Administrator addressed a brief gathering at Nagar Bhaban premises.
Addressing the city residents, Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said dengue is a deadly mosquito-borne disease, but it can be prevented through awareness and collective effort.
So let us all play an effective role in preventing dengue to keep our families and beloved city safe.
Rajshahi City Corporation is taking preparations to prevent dengue. "Our efforts to build a dengue-free Rajshahi metropolis will continue. Alongside the city corporation's activities, city dwellers must also keep their own yards and surroundings clean," he added.
At that time, the RCC Administrator called on everyone to be aware of the need to remove stagnant water and destroy mosquito breeding grounds.
He further said, "According to the directives of the Honourable Prime Minister Tareq Rahman, we are working tirelessly to build a clean city and ensure citizen services. Earlier, we had taken various initiatives to tackle measles-rubella."
This time, we've taken several initiatives to prevent dengue. A two-week-long spraying operation using fogger machines will start before the monsoon to control mosquitoes.
The rally was attended by RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, Executive Magistrate Nazmul Alam, Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Md. Mamun, Superintending Engineer Ahmad Al Moin, Chief Health Officer Dr. AAM Anjuman Ara Begum, along with city corporation officials and employees, CDC members, ward secretaries, health workers, and volunteers from the Red Crescent and BD Clean.
