RAJSHAHI, June 7, 2026 (BSS) - The Special General Meeting-2026 and the Executive Committee (EC) Election (2026-2028) of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Rajshahi City Unit, were held. 

The meeting, held on Saturday afternoon at the City Hall conference room of Nagar Bhaban, was presided over by Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Chairman of the Red Crescent Society, Rajshahi City Unit and Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).
 
In his presidential address, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said the BDRCS has always stood by the people in the service of humanity. 

This organization's role in supporting people during natural disasters, providing healthcare services, delivering humanitarian aid, and responding to times of crisis is commendable.
 
The Rajshahi City Unit has also earned the trust of city residents through its humanitarian activities.

 Especially in disaster management, voluntary activities, blood donation, health awareness, and assisting helpless people, their role is undoubtedly worthy of praise.
 
He further said that strong and dynamic leadership is what can take an organization forward. 

"I hope that through the newly elected leadership, the activities of the Red Crescent Society will be further accelerated. I wish for the continued success of the Rajshahi City Unit and extend my heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the leaders of the newly elected executive committee," he added.

 He said, "Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has given me the responsibility to ensure citizen services. I am performing my duties with trust, faith, and sincerity. I want to do whatever is necessary to ensure citizens' rights. I seek everyone's cooperation in this work."

At the meeting, the welcome address was delivered by Unit Level Officer Mirza Shamim Ahsan. General Secretary Dr. Md. Shamim Hossain Chowdhury presented the activities of the ad-hoc committee over the past year.

In the Executive Committee election, Adv. Parvez Toufiq Zahedi served as the Chief Election Commissioner, with Rashid Hossain Chowdhury and Bakul Hossain serving as Election Commissioners. The Chief Election Commissioner announced the names of the newly elected leaders at the meeting.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Red Crescent Society, Rajshahi City Unit and RCC Administrator, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton greeted the leaders of the newly elected committee with flowers.
