
BARISHAL, June 13, 2026 (BSS) - A three-day training workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and fact-checking, organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), was inaugurated in Gournadi upazila of the district today.
The training program, designed for journalists working in Gournadi upazila, began in the morning with an inaugural ceremony presided over by the training coordinator, Jilhaj Uddin Nipun.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Gournadi Upazila Md. Mehedi Hasan, attended the event as the chief guest.
Among the special guests were Khondkar Kawsar Hossain, News Consultant of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Media Coordinator at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Ariful Islam Arman, trainer of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB).
Speaking at the event were Gournadi Press Club President Zahurul Islam Zahir, former President Md. Gias Uddin Mia, Khondkar Moniruzzaman Monir, Jamal Uddin, and other local journalist leaders.
The speakers emphasized the growing importance of artificial intelligence and fact-checking skills in modern journalism and highlighted the need for journalists to adapt to evolving digital technologies while ensuring accuracy and credibility in news report.
