BGB seizes Indian sarees in Cumilla

CUMILLA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a large consignment of Indian sarees worth approximately Taka 68 lakh during an anti-smuggling operation in Chauddagram upazila of the district early today.

The information was confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel Mir Ali Ejaz, Commander of Cumilla Battalion (10 BGB, said a patrol team from the Shiberbazar Border Outpost (BOP) conducted a special anti-drug and anti-smuggling drive in the early hours of the day.

During the operation, the patrol team recovered a large quantity of Indian sarees from the Nimsar Bazar area in  an abandoned state. However, no individuals were present at the scene.

Lieutenant Colonel Mir Ali Ejaz said that the seized goods would be handed over to the customs authorities in accordance with legal procedures. 

He also reaffirmed BGB's commitment to continuing anti-smuggling operations and strengthening efforts to combat cross-border crimes in the region.
