
CHUADANGA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - A three-day training programme aimed at enhancing journalists' skills in multimedia reporting, fact-checking and combating rumors and misinformation began in the district today.
The training, organised by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, was inaugurated by Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner Lutfun Nahar at the Zilla Parishad Auditorium.
Speaking as the chief guest, Lutfun Nahar highlighted the growing challenges posed by misinformation in the digital era. She said that while the rapid flow of information has created new opportunities, it has also increased the spread of rumors and false information.
Emphasizing the role of responsible journalism, she stressed the need for journalists to strengthen their fact-checking skills and ensure the accurate presentation of news.
The inaugural session was presided over by Nazmul Haque Swapan, President of the Chuadanga Press Club.
Welcome remarks were delivered by Shah Alam Sunny, General Secretary of the Chuadanga Press Club.
Among the special guests were Hussain Malik, general secretary of the Chuadanga District Unit of the Journalists' Association, Sardar Al Amin, convener of the Chuadanga Editors' Council, Rajib Hasan Kochi, member secretary of the Council and Bipul Ashraf, former general secretary of the Chuadanga Press Club.
PIB trainer Sahanwar Sayeed Shaheen is serving as the trainer and coordinator of the programme, while Tausif Akbar conducted sessions as a resource person on the opening day.
A total of 40 journalists from various print, electronic, and online media outlets across the district are participating in the training programme.
