Two job fraudsters arrested in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, June 20, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested two alleged fraudsters in Jamalpur today for attempting to swindle a job seeker by promising him a position in the police force in exchange for a large sum of money.

The arrestees are Md Shariful Islam, 27, son of Abdur Razzak of Mahmudpur area in Melandah Upazila of Jamalpur and Md Rakibul Islam, 38, son of Md Abdul Hamid of Charpara village in Ataikula Upazila of Pabna district.

According to police, the two men struck a deal with Kafi Al Sakib Siyam, son of Md Abdul Kaiyum of Banikunja village in Madarganj Upazila, promising to secure him a job as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in the police department in exchange for Tk 25 lakh.

As part of the alleged scheme, the accused obtained Siyam's signatures on a blank cheque, six Tk 100 stamp papers and a non-judicial stamp paper.

Becoming suspicious, Siyam informed the police. On information, DB police arrested the two suspects from Jamalpur town and recovered the signed cheque and stamp papers from their possession.

A case has been filed with Jamalpur Sadar Police Station in connection with the incident.

Superintendent of Police Mst Farhana Yesmin said police recruitment is conducted in a transparent manner and urged people to remain vigilant against fraudsters offering jobs in exchange for money.
