Fugitive murder suspect arrested in Amir Hamza killing case

KHULNA, June 21, 2026 (BSS) - Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested a fugitive accused in the sensational Amir Hamza murder case from Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat district.

The arrestee was identified as Md Sohel Hossain, alias Body Sohel, 36.

According to a RAB press release, an operational team of RAB-6 conducted a raid at a tea stall adjacent to Noapara Bus Stand under Fakirhat Police Station at around 6:30 pm on Saturday, acting on a tip-off.

Case documents revealed that Sohel, along with other accused, allegedly entered Amir Hamza's house and shot him over a previous enmity on March 20.

Hearing gunshots, locals rushed the critically injured Amir Hamza to Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Following the incident, the victim's mother, Meherunnesa, filed a murder case with Chitalmari Police Station.

The accused was later handed over to Chitalmari Police Station for further legal action, the release added.
