
KHULNA, June 25, 2026 (BSS) – Speakers at a discussion meeting here on Thursday said that students are the future of the nation and noted that though digital technology offers many benefits, but it also has negative impacts.
“Students should remain cautious to evade addiction to digital devices. In the age of information technology, the internet is blessing, but students must learn the proper use of digital devices,” they made the remarks in a discussion meeting titled “The Role of Teachers, Students and Civil Society in Protecting Nature and the Environment and Building a Society Free from Digital Addiction”.
The discussion was held at the auditorium of Khulna Collectorate Public School and College, marking the World Environment Day.
The event was jointly organized by the Khulna District Office of the Department of Environment (DoE) and the Environment Conservation Committee (ECC).
The speakers also highlighted the ongoing impacts of climate and environmental change and stressed the importance of protecting ecological balance by planting at least one tree each year.
Selim Haider Chowdhury, Principal of Khulna Collectorate Public School and College presided over the meeting. Md. Mizanur Rahman Miji, Executive Vice President of Islami Bank PLC’s Khulna Zone, addressed as guest of honour.
The keynote speaker was Md. Harun-Or-Rashid, Assistant Director of the District Office of the Department of Environment. Advocate Sheikh Zakirul Islam, Chairman of the Sheikh Monirul Islam Trust, Mosammat Mahmudha Khatun, Officer-in-Charge of the Victim Support Centre, and Advocate Shamima Sultana Shilu, Executive Director of NGO MASAS, addressed as special guests.
The event was moderated by Advocate Sheikh Oliul Islam, Convener of the Organizing Committee.
Teachers and students of Khulna Collectorate Public School and College participated in the program.
