Record 43 bags of cash found in Pagla Mosque donation boxes

KISHOREGANJ, June 27, 2026 (BSS) - After a gap of nearly six months, 13 donation boxes of the historic Pagla Mosque, located on the banks of the 
Narasunda River in Kishoreganj, were opened this morning, yielding a record 43 bags of cash.

The donation boxes were opened at 7:00 AM today.
 
Around 9:30 AM, the bags were brought to the second floor of the mosque complex, where the counting process began with the participation of a team of over 500 people.

The counting team includes members of the mosque management committee, teachers and students of the madrasa and orphanage located inside the mosque complex, students from the neighboring Jamia Emdadia Madrasa, and officials and employees of Rupali Bank.

Although the donation boxes are usually opened every three months, this time they were opened after six months due to various reasons.

Consequently, two additional donation boxes were recently installed.

Earlier on December 27 last year, the donation boxes were opened after a period of three months and 27 days, yielding Taka 11 crore 78 lakh 48 
thousand 538, along with a large amount of foreign currency and gold ornaments.

The donation boxes were opened in the presence of Kishoreganj District Collector (DC) and President of the Pagla Mosque Management Committee Sohana 
Nasrin, Additional Superintendent of Police Nazmus Sakib Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Ishtiaque Imon, Additional Deputy 
Commissioner (Revenue) Mohammad Nahid Hasna Khan, Additional District Magistrate Md. Ershadul Ahmed, and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md.Kamrul Hasan Maruf, among other administrative officials.
