Kidnapped schoolgirl rescued, main accused held in Gaibandha

RANGPUR, June 28, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained the main abductor and rescued the kidnapped schoolgirl from Satteko village under Saghata police station in Gaibandha district in the early hours of today. 

The arrestee was Md Ahsan Habib, 22, son of Md Bakul Mia of village Ramanather Vita Baluchar under Sadar police station of Gaibandha district, said a press release this evening.
 
Citing the statement of the related case filed by the victim's mother Chobi Begum of the same area, the release said that her victim daughter is a 10th grade student. 
 
While the victim was going to school, the arrested accused Ahsan Habib used to tease her with love proposals. 
 
The victim rejected the accused's love proposal and informed her family members. 
 
On March 31, 2026 at 7 pm, the accused forcibly picked up the victim on an auto-bike and took her to an unknown place as soon as she came out of the house. 
 
Later, the victim's mother filed a kidnapping case in this incident at the Sadar police station of Gaibandha on April 11, 2026.
 
On a tip off, a team of the RAB-13 from Gaibandha Camp in a drive arrested the main accused Sabbir Hossain and rescued the victim from Satteko village under Saghata police station of Gaibandha at 12:30 am today.
 
The victim and arrested accused have been handed over to Gaibandha Sadar police station for further legal action.
