DHAKA, June 28, 2026 (BSS) - A tree-planting initiative, under the 'One Child, One Tree' programme, will be rolled out tomorrow at all government and MPO-affiliated secondary schools across the country.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the programme at the national level at 10:00 am, said a press release here from Learning Acceleration in Secondary Education (LAISE) project, under the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.

To implement the programme, each educational institution will be given Taka 5,000 as climate grant.

As part of fulfilling the government's electoral manifesto, each educational institution must plant at least one fruit-bearing tree, one timber tree, and one medicinal tree using the grant money, read the release.

The event will be broadcast live on various government and private mass media. Moreover, participants from selected educational institutions will have the opportunity to connect with the Prime Minister via video conference.
