
SANGSAD BHABAN, June 28, 2026 (BSS) - A parliamentary sub-committee on Sunday recommended the priority digitalization of old and rare books, documents and parliamentary debates preserved in the Jatiya Sangsad library through a comprehensive scanning to safeguard the country’s legislative records.
The sub-committee (No-1) of the Library Committee of the Jatiya Sangsad made the recommendation after holding a threadbare discussion on the report presented by B&IT wing of the parliament secretariat and the UNDP regarding transformation of the Jatiya Sangsad library into an e-library.
With Convener of the Committee Humam Kader Chowdhury in the chair, Committee Members- Mir Ahmad Bin Kashem and Syed Al Noman attended the meeting, said a parliament secretariat a press release here.
The committee also recommended completing the modernization of the Jatiya Sangsad library by next one year, bringing it under the e-parliament framework with the cooperation of UNDP under the Strengthening Institutions, Policies and Services (SIPS) project of the parliament secretariat.
The meeting decided to send hard copies of the profile prepared by UNDP to the members of the sub-committee.
Secretary of parliament secretariat, officials concerned and representatives of UNDP were present at the meeting, the release added.
