Shop fined over selling cakes, pastries without BSTI approval in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 28, 2026 (BSS) - The divisional office of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) today carried out a mobile court in the city, leading to fine a shop Tk 4,000 over selling cake and pastry without approval of authorities concerned.

The fined shop, Mr. Bright Cake & Pastry Shop, locates in the Alokar Mor area of the city.

The shop was fined for manufacturing, selling and distributing 'decorated cakes' without BSTI's quality certificate and for selling foreign 'chocolates and lozenges' that were brought in illegally without clearance and valid import documents.
 
Executive magistrate Shahriar Islam Nasif led the mobile court while BSTI officer Engineer Junaid Ahmed was the prosecutor.
