CHATTOGRAM, June 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Chattogram Development Authority (CDA)
has intensified its campaign against unauthorized and haphazard building
construction by conducting mobile court drives in different parts of the
city.

As part of the ongoing campaign, a mobile court conducted a drive against
under-construction buildings in the Kalpalok Residential area under Baklia
Police Station today.

The mobile court was led by CDA Special Magistrate Hamimun Tanjin, while
members of the Bangladesh Police provided overall security and maintained law
and order during the operation.

The inspection focused on ensuring compliance with relevant regulations at
buildings currently under construction in the residential area.

As a result of the inspection, legal action was taken against 11
establishments for various violations, including failure to maintain the
mandatory setback from plot boundaries, deviations from the approved building
plans, and other irregularities.

During the drive, seven multi-storey buildings and an unauthorized warehouse
constructed without approved plans were sealed under Section 12(1) of the
Building Construction Act, 1952.

Electricity connections to the sealed establishments were also disconnected.
In addition, three building owners were fined a total of Taka 13 lakh, with a
provision for one year's imprisonment in default of payment.

CDA Authorized Officer-2 Kazi Quader Newaz, Assistant Authorized Officers
Asad Bin Anwar and Faruk Ahmed, along with the concerned building inspectors,
were present during the operation.
