RDA Chairman commits to build modern, planned Rangpur city

RANGPUR, July 7, 2026 (BSS) - Rangpur Development Authority (RpDA) Chairman Md Shamsuzzaman Samu has said that he wants to develop Rangpur as a modern, planned city, fulfilling the long-cherished expectations of the local people regarding development.
 
"We will all work together to solve problems like lack of good roads, broken roads and unplanned house construction for the city's development and 
sustainable development of the Shyamasundari Canal, KD Canal and other canals in Rangpur," he said.
 
After inaugurating the RpDA office at the Rangpur Divisional Headquarters Bhaban on Tuesday afternoon, Md Shamsuzzaman Samu, also Rangpur Metropolitan BNP convener, presented his comprehensive development plan to local journalists at his office.
 
The RpDA Chairman said that he will fulfill the responsibility given to him by the Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for the development of backward Rangpur 
with commitment, honesty and devotion. 
 
He said, "If we want to develop Rangpur city, we need the cooperation of people from all levels. Today, I seek everyone's cooperation in this 
direction."
 
Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam, Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud, Divisional Director (Local Government Division) Md Abu Zafar, District Council Administrator Md Saiful Islam, Rangpur Chamber President Emdadul 
Hossain, among others, were present at the inaugural ceremony.
