CHANDPUR, July 8, 2026 (BSS) – Police have arrested Chandpur district Jubo Mohila League (JML) President and former panel mayor of Chandpur municipality Farida Elias in connection with a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

“She was arrested from her residence in the Uttar Sriramdi area of the town this morning,” Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station Faiz Ahmed told BSS.

He said a police team, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Nadira Noor, arrested Farida at around 8:00 am.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md Khairul Kabir was present during the drive, he added.

The OC said the accused was produced before a court after her arrest, and the court subsequently ordered her to be sent to jail.

Police said earlier Sub-Inspector (SI) Al-Amin filed the case under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station on June 8.
