CHATTOGRAM, July 8, 2026 (BSS) – Two children were killed in separate landslides in the Jangal Salimpur and Chashma Pahar areas of Sitakunda upazila today.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Uttar Kumar Rajbangshi of Sitakunda Police Station said 10-month-old Ashraful Islam Tanvir, son of Mainuddin, was killed instantly when a landslide struck their house at the foot of a hill in the Jangal Salimpur area in the morning.

Meanwhile, a 12-year-old girl, Sumaiya, daughter of Faruk Hossain, died after being trapped in a landslide in the Chashma Pahar area under Panchlaish Police Station at around 1:30 pm.

Deputy Assistant Director of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence Zone-4 Shah Imran said that, upon receiving information about the incident, a Fire Service team rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation.
