Training workshop for Journalists held in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Sept 7, 2026 (BSS) - A training workshop was held for print and electronic media personnel working in Rajshahi on professional duties, rights, and laws and regulations related to journalism. 

The workshop was organized by the Bangladesh Press Council (BPC) at the Rajshahi Circuit House today. BPC Chairman Justice A K M Abdul Hakim attended and addressed the training workshop as chief guest, while Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam was in the chair.

The resource person present was the Secretary of the Bangladesh Press Council, Abdus Sabur. Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Gaziur Rahman and Deputy Principal Information Officer of Regional Information Office Md Touhiduzzaman also spoke as special guests.

In his speech as chief guest, Justice A K M Abdul Hakim briefed the journalists on various laws, rules and regulations and professional codes of conduct related to newspapers and journalism. 

He said that verifying the authenticity of information and maintaining professional discipline are extremely important when disseminating news. He called upon journalists to perform their professional duties properly, responsibly and with discipline.

 At the same time, he emphasized the importance of journalists being aware of their professional rights as well as properly following laws and regulations.
The workshop discussed various aspects of journalists' professional rights, responsibilities, legal obligations in publishing news, and the implementation of relevant rules and regulations.
 
In the question-and-answer session held later, journalists asked questions about various problems and legal issues faced in performing their professional duties. The guests answered these questions and provided necessary guidance.
 
Officials of the Rajshahi District Information Office and journalists and media working from various print and electronic media in the city were present at the workshop.
