MOSCOW, Feb 27, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Russia's defence ministry said Thursday it had shot down 19 drones overnight across the country and in annexed Crimea, with other authorities reporting one person killed in the Belgorod region.

Kyiv has stepped up its air strikes against energy and military facilities on Russian territory in recent months, a campaign in response to Moscow's relentless bombardment of its cities and infrastructure.

"A local resident was killed as a result of an explosive device being launched by a drone at a car" in the town of Graivoron, Belgorod governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on Telegram.

No other major damage was immediately reported by Russian media or authorities.
