S. Korea registers record birth rate growth for Jan-May: officials

SEOUL, July 23, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - South Korea registered record birth rate growth for the first five months of the year, officials told AFP on Wednesday.

"The number of newborns for the Jan-May period came at 106,048 over the period, a 6.9 percent growth, which is the highest growth rate since such data collection began in 1981," said a Statistics Korea official.
