SAO PAULO, July 24, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Brazil's Supreme Court ruled Thursday that former president Jair Bolsonaro would not be taken into detention, but warned he would be imprisoned immediately if he violated legal restrictions including a social media ban.

Judge Alexandre de Moraes considered it an "isolated irregularity" that social media accounts of one of Bolsonaro's sons "were used in his favor."

Bolsonaro is on trial for allegedly seeking to stay in power by overturning the 2022 election.
