ABIDJAN, July 28, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - At least 16 people were killed and 51 injured Sunday in a collision between a truck and a passenger bus in northern Ivory Coast, the Ministry of Transport announced.

The accident occurred Sunday morning around 6:00 am (0600 GMT) and involved a bus traveling from San Pedro in Ivory Coast to the Burkina Faso capital Ouagadougou, and a dump truck mounted with a crane, the ministry said.

As in many African countries, fatal accidents are frequent in Ivory Coast due to the poor condition of some roads and numerous vehicles, as well as dangerous driving practices.
