GUATEMALA CITY, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - The Central American nation of Belize said Monday it has agreed to host migrants as they are seeking asylum in the United States.

On its Facebook page, Belize's government said it had reached an agreement with the United States, whereby those seeking asylum in the US can be temporarily sent to Belize as a "safe third country" while their applications are considered.

The deal needs approval from the Belize Senate.
