GENEVA, June 3, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - The World Health Organization chief on Wednesday called on countries imposing "blanket travel restrictions" over the central Africa Ebola outbreak to lift them, warning they were hindering efforts to rein in the deadly virus.

"Blanket travel restrictions imposed by some countries are disrupting supply chains and hindering the response," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters, adding that the WHO "recommends exit screening at airports, ports and border crossings to prevent the exportation of cases and contacts", but asks "countries that have imposed blanket travel restrictions to lift them".
