NATORE, Jan 30, 2026 (BSS) – Advocate M Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu, who is contesting for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election in Natore-2 as Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate, has promised security and development for the people.

He also mentioned the creation of employment opportunities and building an aesthetic Natore.

Five more candidates are also in the race with Dulu from the Natore-2 parliamentary constituency, comprising Natore Sadar and Naldanga upazilas.

BNP central leader and former deputy minister Advocate M. Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, considered the leading contender in this constituency, shared his views in an interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) correspondent Farazi Ahmmad Rafiq Baban.

BSS: What are your election promises for the voters of your area?

Dulu: Security is my foremost priority, alongside building a safe town, development must also be ensured for the welfare of the people. If elected, we plan to establish a university and a medical college in Natore, which has long been educationally neglected. We also want to harness the potential of industrialization to create employment opportunities. Our vision is to develop Natore into an aesthetic city.

BSS: What are your instructions to the leaders and workers regarding the election code of conduct?

Dulu: Party leaders and workers have been instructed to strictly follow the election code of conduct. We are complying with the Election Commission’s laws and will continue to do so. After the schedule was announced, all old campaign materials were removed.

BSS: What is your position on the referendum on the July Charter?

Dulu: Our position is against fascism. Therefore, we are seeking votes for the paddy sheaf symbol in the national elections, as well as ‘Yes’ votes in the referendum. However, the government bears greater responsibility to campaign and motivate the people to participate in the referendum.

BSS: What are your expectations for the upcoming parliamentary elections?

Dulu: The people of Natore elected me in three consecutive elections, the last being in 2001. Since then, I was denied the opportunity to contest and was repeatedly imprisoned. This time, the people have regained their freedom to vote, and they are eager to support me. I am confident of winning this election by a large margin.

The constituency includes two municipalities and 12 unions, with 156 polling stations. The total number of voters is 406,886, of whom 201,654 are men, 205,023 are women, and nine are third-gender voters.

The other candidates contesting the seat are Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami district committee Nayeb-e-Ameer and central committee Majlish-e-Sura member Professor Md. Yunus Ali (daripalla), Islami Andolan Bangladesh district committee president Mohammad Ali Siddique (hatpakha), Jatiya Party district committee general secretary Md. Rakib Uddin Kamal (plough), independent candidate Dr. Md. Nurannabi Mridha (football), and Gana Sanghati Andolan leader Tahamida Islam Tania (mathal).
