CHUADANGA, Jan 30, 2026 (BSS) - Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate for Chuadanga-2 Hasanuzzaman Sajeeb has vowed to work for building a corruption-free society and farmers-friendly state if he is elected in the 13th national election.
In an interview with BSS, he said those who were in power in the last 54 years did not pay attention to farmers.
“If they did so, there would not have been a seed crisis in this agriculture-based country. But we will resolve this problem. We will make Chuadanga an agriculture-friendly district,” he said.
Hasanuzzaman Sajeeb is the son of Abdul Malek and Mosammat Hasna Hena, residents of Ramnagar village of Damurhuda upazila. He has been active in politics since 1995.
In 2018, he contested the 11th general elections from Chuadanga-2 constituency. He started his political career as a member of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Andolan and was appointed the president of the student body in 2003. In 2017, he became the president of the Islami Andolan Chuadanga district unit. Before that, he served as the party's publicity secretary for a long time.
Hasanuzzaman Sajeeb revealed his election pledges and aspirations in the interview with BSS Chuadanga district correspondent Bipul Ashraf.
BSS: What are your election promises to the voters of your area?
Hasanuzzaman Sajeeb: If I am elected, at first I will work to check looting and corruption. If corruption is checked, countless families in Bangladesh will automatically get benefited. This will cut economic inequality of the people to a large extent.
Bangladesh is an agricultural country. But the farmers of this country do not get fair price for agricultural products. So, if I am elected, I will remove the difficulties faced by the farmers of Chuadanga district. I will especially try to make seeds, fertilizers and pesticides easily available.
BSS: What are your instructions to the leaders and activists to follow the electoral code of conduct?
Hasanuzzaman Sajeeb: Islami Andolan Bangladesh is an ideology-based organisation. We never compromise with ideology. That is why I have instructed our leaders and activists to follow the rules and regulations of the government and the Election Commission. Unlike other parties, the Islamic Andolan is not the same. Islamic Andolan has been doing politics in Chuadanga district since 1987. We have not caused any chaos in Chuadanga till date. Our leaders and activists follow discipline.
BSS: What is your position on referendum on the July Charter?
Hasanuzzaman Sajeeb: The August 5 is a historic day in Bangladesh as like as the 1971 War of Independence. Islamic Andolan played a major role in the movement that started demanding quota reform. No party in Bangladesh was in the field with a banner. But the Islamic Andolan was there. We also held a procession in Chuadanga. Our expectation was to change the way elections have been held for so long. We want elections to be held through the PR system. If we want to see a drug-, terror-, extortion-free Bangladesh, then there is no alternative to the PR system.
We have been demanding for the July Charter. We encourage everyone to vote for 'Yes' in the referendum.
BSS: What are your expectations in the upcoming national elections?
Hasanuzzaman Sajeeb: The people of Bangladesh were deprived of their rights to voting in the last three elections. That is why we want a free, fair and impartial election in Bangladesh. We got the “July” in exchange of blood of hundreds of people. I urge the government to present a free, fair and impartial election to implement the ideals of the July so that we can establish a new Bangladesh.
