SANGSAD BHABAN, April 15, 2026 (BSS) - Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam has said the government has a plan to construct a bridge on the Kocha river at Charkhali-Togra ferry ghat point in Pirojpur.

The bridge division has sent the Preliminary Development Project Proposal (PDPP) to the planning commission, he said while giving a statement on important notice of ruling party lawmaker M Ruhul Amin Dulal of Pirojpur-3 at Jatiya Sangsad with Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal in the chair.

At the same time, the government has placed a proposal to the Economic Relation Division (ERD) to allocate adequate allocation for construction of 2.2 kilometer long bridge in Pirojpur.

Alam said the government already has completed the hydro-morphology test of the bridge, saying that we hope that we will able to start the bridge soon.

He said since the bridge will be built on the regional highway and that’s why the implementation of the construction of the bridge is essential.

The bridge will help reduce at least 50 kilometer distance between Dhaka and southern part of the country.
