SANGSAD BHABAN, June 24, 2026 (BSS) – The government has already undertaken a number of effective measures to improve customer services by addressing weak mobile network coverage, call drops, slow internet speeds and outdated telecommunications infrastructure, Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam told Parliament today.

He disclosed this while replying to a written question tabled by opposition lawmaker Syed Zainul Abedin of Dhaka-4 constituency in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The minister said that guidelines on the Quality of Service (QoS) Benchmarking System have been issued to improve the quality of services provided by mobile operators and to protect consumers’ interests. “Activities to update and implement the system are currently underway,” he added.

As part of the initiative, he said, drive tests covering approximately 2,000 kilometres nationwide have already been completed in 2026 under newly issued directives.

“The tests are being conducted to assess network coverage and service quality of mobile operators,” he said.

Faqir Mahbub Anam said that like other parts of the country, Quality of Service drive tests will also be carried out in Dhaka district to further improve telecommunications services.

He added that the results of the tests will be analysed to identify weak network areas, and the concerned mobile operators will be instructed to take necessary improvement measures.

The minister said the government would continue its efforts to build a modern, uninterrupted and customer-friendly mobile network system across the country.
