Two more die of dengue, 157 hospitalised in 24 hrs

DHAKA, June 24, 2026 (BSS) - Two more people died of dengue and 157 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). 

Among the newly hospitalised patients, 56 were admitted in Barishal Division, 16 in Chattogram Division, 11 in Dhaka Division (outside city corporation area), 28 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 29 in Dhaka South City Corporation, three in Mymensingh Division, four in Rajshahi Division and 16 in Khulna Division.

During the same period, 119 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. With the latest figure, a total of 4,919 patients have recovered and been released from hospitals so far this year.

The report said that 5,317 dengue cases have been recorded across the country since January this year. Of the total infected patients, 62.1 percent are male and 37.9 percent female.

A total of 12 dengue-related deaths have been reported so far in 2026.
According to official data, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease in 2025.

In 2024, the country reported 101,214 dengue infections and 575 deaths.
